Hadleigh, Hadleigh Show

Last Saturday was a very big day for us here in Hadleigh. No, I’m not talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding day – it was the 179th annual Hadleigh Show!

The Hadleigh team had spent weeks preparing for the event and hours packing goody bags – and all of their hard work paid off in the end. Mel, a Mortgage Consultant from our Mortgage Sales team also helped us for the day and her presence was not only appreciated by the mortgage enquirers there on the day, but by us as well!

Despite having the Royal Wedding to compete with, more than 14,000 people attended the event which was a great turnout. Our very own Pretty Penny became ‘Princess Penny’ for the day and the sun shone from start to finish, making it a thoroughly enjoyable day for all.

The theme for this year’ show was ‘Quintessentially British’. And much to our surprise, the judges came round in the afternoon to tell us that we’d won second place for our stand and gave us our prize – they said we won because we had made an effort to entertain the children and for our bunting (although secretly we think Penny’s crown helped too!)

It was a pleasure to spend the day with Mel and the Hadleigh team supporting our community – and while it was a long day – it was certainly worth it.
