On a beautiful afternoon last week I had the opportunity to help local charity Inspire Suffolk at Framlingham College by delivering a Money Management session to a group of students as part of their Summer Education Programme.
Inspire Suffolk is a charity operating in and around Ipswich who use sport and education to reach out to disadvantaged young people and help them to re-integrate back into society. They are at the forefront of helping young people to overcome challenges and take positive steps in their lives back into employment and further training. They are also the official race partner for this year’s Ipswich Twilight Races.
The surroundings could not have been better – Framlingham College was built in 1865 in a typically grand and imposing Victorian style, and is overlooked by the eponymous ‘Castle on the Hill’. The students at the college were thoughtful and really engaged with the session – quite a surprise considering the hot weather and how close we are to the summer holidays! I have to admit I was rather envious as the students had a pool party to look forward to later in the day!
Money Management is part of our industry-leading financial education programme aimed at Years 2 and 10, students aged between 16-18 and adults. Last year we delivered financial education to over 4,500 students in our region and continue to champion fiscal responsibility through our branch network, and I am delighted to have lent my support to Inspire Suffolk and to the College.
