Stuck for fun ideas this Easter weekend? Our lovely branch teams have some ideas to inspire you for a perfect Suffolk day out. To help you get some Suffolk themed inspiration, we’ve asked five of our branch staff to talk us through their dream Suffolk day (David, Shelley, Lewis, Julie, and Sarah).
From a scrumptious breakfast and trip down the river, to a walk with stunning views and some fish and chips – we’ve got you covered.
What would be your go-to morning activity/breakfast for a dream Suffolk day?
David: Breakfast at Toast in Sudbury.
Shelley: Friday Street Farm Shop for one of their small Suffolk Breakfasts.
Lewis: Kayaking on the river Stour (only if it’s a sunny day).
Julie: Cradle, Sudbury finest French boulangerie.
Sarah: A walk along the beach at Walberswick with my border terrier – Timmy and my son Edward.
Where would you have lunch on your favourite Suffolk day?
David: The Ramsholt Arms in Woodbridge, it has delicious food and an amazing view.
Shelley: Blaxhall Ship Inn – A traditional country village inn.
Lewis: The Henny Swan because you can paddle right up to it.
Julie: The Wagon in Sudbury.
Sarah: Fish and Chips With my family at the Sole Bay in Southwold.
What activity would you do during the afternoon?
David: A lovely walk along the old railway tracks from Hadleigh to Raydon.
Shelley: Take a nice walk to Blaxhall Common Suffolk Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve and Tunstall link. Blaxhall common is a piece of heathland full of birds, butterflies, reptiles, and flowers unique to the area.
Lewis: Watch a film at the cinema in Bury with some friends.
Julie: A hike in the countryside.
Sarah: On a warm day – Go for a swim with my son at Southwold followed by an ice cream.
Where would you eat dinner?
David: Tito’s Italian restaurant in Hadleigh. A great family-owned restaurant that produces amazing and fresh food.
Shelley: The Lighthouse Restaurant in Aldeburgh High Street owned by Sam and Maxine Hayes.
Lewis: Memsaab curry house in Lavenham.
Julie: Felixstowe – fish and chips on the seaside with seagulls.
Sarah: The Swan Hotel at Southwold.
How and where would you finish the ideal evening of a Suffolk Day?
David: Sitting with a glass of wine overlooking the fields from my garden.
Shelley: Watching the sun go down at Orford quay and riverside.
Lewis: A pub with some mates.
Julie: having a glass of champagne at the Mills hotel, on the terrace watching the sunset over the water meadows.
Sarah: Watching the Sunset on Aldeburgh beach by the Shell sculpture.
What unexpected thing might you do?
David: Afternoon Tea at Hintlesham Hall.
Shelley: Support local beach cleans organised by the Marine Conservation Society in Southwold.
Lewis: Take a late-night drive, as it starts to get dark, to Felixstowe port it looks awesome with all the lights and massive ships.
Julie: Go for a swim in the sea.
Sarah: As a very amateur photographer – capture the perfect Suffolk image.
