 We’re spending more time in our homes than ever before, so the idea of being able to create a property that fits our ideal design specifications is naturally appealing. In fact, over half of UK adults contemplating a self build project said it was their main motivation for doing so.

In celebration of Right to Build Day on 30 October, the first anniversary of the day on which all English local authorities were required to demonstrate that they have granted sufficient planning permission to meet the self build demand, we’re sharing our research on the self build property market.

We surveyed over 2,000 British adults on their plans, challenges and considerations for their self build, but was it more Grand Designs or grand disasters? Take a look at our infographic and find out.
